On 17 November 2026, the STREAM IT and STEAMbrace projects will join forces for organising the final event ‘Advancing Inclusive STEAM Education: Insights, Results & the Road Ahead’, a European event exploring how STEAM education can become more inclusive, creative and responsive to gender and diversity. The event will take place in a hybrid format at Maison des Associations Internationales in Brussels, bringing together policymakers, educators, researchers, project partners and other stakeholders to share experiences, discuss project results and explore future opportunities for collaboration.

The programme will open with a keynote address by Chiara Colella (Policy Officer, DG EAC.B2, European Commission) on empowering Europe’s future through STEAM education, followed by two roundtable discussions. The first will focus on the STEAM Alliance for Europe and a joint public relations strategy to build a sustainable European STEAM ecosystem. The second, organised by STREAM IT, will examine the future of inclusive STEAM education, with a particular focus on research evidence, policy recommendations and the transformative role of the Arts. Together, the discussions will explore how gender-responsive and diversity-inclusive approaches can become an integral part of educational practice and policy across Europe.

In the afternoon, participants will join small-group workshops addressing key challenges and opportunities in inclusive STEAM education. Topics will include tackling inequalities in the classroom, using digital resources and tools to support teachers, and strengthening European collaboration and networks. The event will conclude with a plenary session to share the workshops’ main findings, followed by a discussion of key messages and recommendations for the future of STEAM education.

The STREAM IT project is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme. As its coordinator, HÉTFA Research Institute contributes to advancing inclusive STEAM education through international cooperation and science communication. The joint event offers an opportunity to connect the results and experiences of STREAM IT and STEAMbrace with future policy development, educational practice and European partnerships, helping sustain their impact beyond the projects’ lifetimes.
