The REvaluation Conference 2024, held last week in Vienna under the theme “Navigating Times of Change”, brought together over 250 participants to discuss the evolving landscape of research and innovation policy evaluation. Organized by the Austrian Platform for Research and Technology Policy Evaluation (fteval) and the REvaluation team, the event highlighted challenges and opportunities in evaluating transformative policies.
The conference explored topics such as redefining success in research evaluation, digital-age assessment tools, and strengthening evaluation frameworks. A major highlight was the contribution of the PROFEEDBACK community, with over 40 members actively participating. Renata Anna Jaksa, Head of the Division for International Cooperation and Scientific Communication Manager of PROFEEDBACK, introduced the initiative’s achievements and key activities planned for 2025.
Tamás Szabó, a colleague of the Public Policy and Impact Assessment Office, presented his paper on “Impact evaluation of EU subsidies for R&D on Hungarian firms” in the Funding Transdisciplinarity section, offering valuable insights into the effects of EU funding on firm-level innovation.
The conference proceedings and the ProfeedBOOK will soon provide a detailed overview of the event’s key findings.
