On May 16, 2024, the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration in Bucharest hosted the 5th international PROFEEDBACK conference, themed “Good Practices and Lessons Learned in the Evaluation of Social Policies”.

The conference, organized as part of the PROFEEDBACK COST Action led by HÉTFA, gathered experts from more than 15 countries. The event was opened by Gábor Balás, Managing Director of HÉTFA Research Institute. Following the opening speech, a roundtable discussion took place, focusing on how evaluations can support decision-making. In the six-panel sections, participants presented their findings on various topics, including the social inclusion of underprivileged children, access to essential public services, poverty reduction strategies, social protection measures, safeguarding socio-economic rights, promoting social cohesion, and encouraging diverse demographic participation in public life. The exchange of ideas during these sessions was marked by discussions and critical reflections, underscoring the complexity and interconnectedness of social policy issues.

Luca Koltai, HÉTFA’s Research Director presented the evaluation results of the “Focus on the Child” program in Hungary, while Bálint Herczeg (Senior Research Fellow at HÉTFA), discussed the effects of the Crossroads Programme on early school leaving and secondary school choice.

In 2024, PROFEEDBACK conferences will also be held in Athens, Tirana, and Vienna. Abstracts from previous conferences can be found through this link.
