The project Youth&SPA implemented through the Erasmus + programme with the professional support of HETFA will hold a session in the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWoRc) in Brussels on 8 October 2019. The workshop under the title Boosting the attractiveness of rural towns and the EU for the youth will start at 14.30 and involve all participants into an interactive brainstorming on the future of rural towns.
“The EWoRC is an annual four-day event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance.”
The Youth&SPA project, running with the professional support of HETFA, aims to launch a transnational and intergenerational dialogue among young people and decision-makers supported under Key Action 3 of the Erasmus + Programme.
Our colleagues at the Division for International Cooperation elaborated the application material for EWoRC and will participate actively in the preparation, dissemination and realization of the workshop in Brussels. During the session we will focus on the 4 main challenges of rural towns such as lack of cooperation and rural-territorial cohesion, youth migration, low interests in decision-making processes and low voter turnout in EU Elections. The aim is to put the problem on the agenda of decision-makers and support to find a common solution for these problems, inciting dialogue between youth and policy-makers.
The attendance at the workshop is free of charge but registration is necessary. Registration is available until 27 September.
