<p><strong><span style="color: #000000;">23-24 January 2025</span></strong></p>
<p><strong>Background</strong></p>
<p>The <strong>V4+WB RMA Network Plus</strong> project aims to further reinforce the network of Research Support Professionals, or in short, Research Managers and Administrators (RMAs) in the V4+WB region. Through intensified knowledge exchange and capacity-building activities it will contribute to the increased competitiveness of the Visegrad Four and Western Balkan countries in Research and Innovation.</p>
<p>The <strong>closing event</strong> of the project will take place <strong>in</strong> <strong>Budapest</strong>, Hungary on<strong> 23-24 January, 2025,</strong> targeting RMAs from the V4+WB region and beyond. The event is hosted by the HÉTFA Research Institute, the coordinator of the project.</p>
<p><strong>The main focus and programme of the event</strong> is to present how the situation and status of research management has changed during the time of the project in the 4 Visegrad and the 3 Western Balkan countries, what are the improvements, opportunities and the achievements in the field.</p>
<p>Some policy makers from the European Commission, ministries and funding organizations and institution leaders will also be present at the conference, who will give an overview of the present state and further initiatives of research and innovation and research management from their perspective in the form of <strong>presentations </strong>and a<strong> roundtable discussion</strong>.</p>
<p>On the second day of the conference there will be a <strong>workshop organized by NOVA University of Lisbon</strong> with the title ’Advancing Research Management Training in the V4 and Balkan Regions: Needs, Insights, and Future Collaborations’ as part of the RM Roadmap project.</p>
<p>The conference will support the capacity building and networking of RMAs working with EU-funded R&amp;I projects.</p>

<p>Attendance is free of charge, but subject to the written approval of the organizers due to attendee number restrictions. The grants are reserved for applicants*, such as with active contributions to the conference (e.g. delivering a presentation or leading a workshop). Successful applicants shall be listed in the official event/conference programme. The main subject of the oral presentation/speech/workshop needs to be closely related to the topic and objectives of the V4+WB RM Network Plus conference agenda and acknowledge the grants provided by the International Visegrad Fund.</p>
<p><strong>Target group</strong></p>
<p>*Research Managers and Administrators (RMAs) including funding and legal advisors, finance managers, research support professionals, innovation managers, technology transfer professionals, professionals working on the interface of science (such as National Contact Points -NCPs-) or at other Research Performing Organisations (RPOs), universities, NGOs; based in V4 and WB countries.</p>

<p><strong>About the event:</strong></p>
<p>Research management and administration (RMA) is becoming recognized as a profession around the world. This emerging profession provides a balance between promoting/facilitating the needs of institutions to meet their organizational objectives and the ability of academics to dedicate more time to science and research results. Well-trained research managers bring added value and significantly contribute to the organization’s overall success at universities, institutions, agencies and NGOs. The V4+WB RMA NETWORK initiative explores the broad scope of the multi-faceted profession of research management. The 3<sup>rd</sup> Training School in Tirana under the auspices of <a href="https://www.go2albania.org/">GO2ALBANIA</a> would focus on “Maximizing the impact of research results, exploitation and valorization of research results, open science and open access”. Participants can further develop their understanding on:</p>

<li>Open science: concept and policy</li>
<li>Open Science: practices and enablers</li>
<li>Open Science and Open Access: main differences and commonalities</li>
<li>Data sharing benefits and challenges</li>
<li>Data sharing solutions and networks</li>
<li>Examples of data sharing (success and failure)</li>
<li>Data sharing challenges (ethical, legal, technical)</li>
<li>The role of Open Science in research valorization</li>
</ul>
<p>This V4+WB RMA event also would provide plenty of opportunities for team building and networking. Participants will have the opportunity to network with peers and establish long-term collaborations within the region.</p>

<p><strong>Target group:</strong> Research Managers and Administrators (RMAs) including funding and legal advisors, finance managers, research support professionals, innovation managers, technology transfer professionals, professionals working on the interface of science, researchers in different institutions, based in Visegrad Group and WB countries.</p>
<p><strong>Note:</strong> Attendance is free of charge, but subject to selection procedure. GO2Albania will support up to 15 participants from partner countries Visegrad 4 (Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, Poland) and WB (Albania, Bosnia &amp; Hercegovina, Serbia), by covering the costs of travel and accommodation. All applicants who exceed the selection list are welcome to participate by covering their own travel and accommodation costs. All participants are responsible to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.</p>
<p><strong>Selection criteria:</strong></p>
<p><em>Professional Background:</em> Preference will be given to RMAs leading and coordinating research support offices, researchers,</p>
<p><em>Experience:</em> Experienced candidates with significant involvement in research support activities, conducting research, pre and post-award project engagement, communication and dissemination, impact evaluation will be prioritized.</p>
<p><em>Geographical Representation:</em> Visegrad Group (V4) countries and Western Balkans (WB) countries</p>
<p><em>Diversity:</em> Preference will be given to applicants from diverse backgrounds, including different academic disciplines, types of institutions, and geographical locations within the eligible regions</p>

The two-day event is part of the <a href="https://hetfa.eu/v4wbrmanetworkplus/">V4+WB RMA Network Plus</a> project led by HETFA Research Institute and supported by the <a href="https://www.visegradfund.org/">International Visegrad Fund</a>.</p>
