I am currently Director Research & Education at Holland Proton Therapy Center in Delft, The Netherlands. In this position, I am the head of the R&D department and responsible for the implementation of the HollandPTC research programme on proton therapy in oncology, and the coordination of education and training activities. As management team member, I take part in setting the strategy and running the operations of our organisation.
I have been active in the LSH domain since 1994. After obtaining my PhD degree, I worked as a managing biochemist till 2002 at Pharming, a biotechnology company in Leiden. I then moved to various strategic positions at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam to set up and coordinate large national and international research consortia, scout and advise on national and international funding opportunities, and promote the (inter)national positioning of the institution and its scientists. I have a broad national and European network of research managers and administrators. I am co-founder and former vice-chair of the Association for Research Managers and Administrators – The Netherlands (ARMA-NL), trainer for the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA), and have been WG1 leader, core group member and Management Committee member of the COST Targeted Network BESTPRAC.
