Based on the theory of institutional economics, our research fellow suggests, first, to conduct a mapping on the functioning of the state and market economic rules and processes. Any steps aiming at the improvement of the related institutions can only take place afterwards.

Interview with Klára Major and Tamás Tétényi at portfolio.hu

Employability of labour force and macroeconomic conjuncture are channels of greater importance in increasing the rate of employment than direct job creation measures. Analyses conducted by our researchers proved that only a small part (less than ten percent) of jobs created by job creation programmes increased employment on the long run, moreover, the majority of them did not necessarily enhance the rates locally but in those neighbouring micro regions where labour force surplus was larger.

The interview was carried out by portfolio.hu following the publication of the study of Klára Major and Tamás Tétényi in the Economic Review. The summary of the study is available in English.

“In case of public policy programmes the assessment of awaited socio-economic impacts shall become part of our mindset; impact assessments are supposed to help decision-makers” highlighted Klára Major, economist, senior research fellow of HETFA Research Institute in her interview given to Financial Review Online [Pénzügyi Szemle Online].

According to the expert, the most important criterion of forecasts does not depend on whether it becomes true or not. On the other hand, the main role of impact assessment is to differentiate statistical co-movement from causation. The interview was carried out by Péter Pál Kolozsi for the Financial Review Online with Klára major, senior research fellow of HETFA.
