The 4th webinar of the series was held on 25 May 2021. More than 100 people joined the webinar via Zoom and on Facebook Live.
Almost 25% of the participants were from Serbia, while Bosnia and Herzegovina covered an additional 10% of the participants.
The theme of the webinar was the practical overview of the ‘Fourth component of Horizon Europe – Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area’. The topic of ‘Widening’ is highly relevant for the V4 (PL, CZ, SK, HU) and Western Balkan countries. Widening was already addressed by Horizon 2020 since the success rate of these countries was low in the previous framework programme (FP7). Horizon Europe also aims to help these member states and associated countries to compete more successfully for EU research grants, which is also in line with the goal of the project.
The importance of the topic is also reflected in the fact that the first speaker was Mr Stijn Delaure, Policy Officer of the European Commission.
The invited experts provided insight to the upcoming calls and also presented Horizon2020 success stories:
- Stijn Delaure (Policy Officer, European Commission): Widening Participation and Strengthening ERA – novelties and overview
- Dominika Raróg-Ośliźlok (Silesian University of Technology): Current (upcoming) calls for proposals
- Przemysław Data (project’s coordinator, Silesian University of Technology): Polish Horizon 2020 success stories (Twinning ORZEL and ERA Chair ExCEED)
- Goran Stojanović (project’s coordinator, University of Novi Sad): Serbian Horizon 2020 success story (ERA Chair STRENTEX)
The recorded webinar, as well as the previous ones, will be available on the Learning Material Platform of the project (the Platform is open to anyone who have registered to the online Expert Pool).
The forthcoming webinar (nr. 5) will be held on 22 June 2021, 10.00-12.00 CET and it will focus on the ‘Intellectual Property Protection and Management’. Mr Matěj Machů (Deputy Director, Patent Attorney, Charles University Innovations Prague s.r.o) will provide an overview of the question.
